Stefanie is 1/2 of my soul. She inspires me with her love. She makes me laugh with her unexpected comments.
In the middle of the night, Stefanie loudly declares in her sleep, "pomengranite. " There are quite a few others I cannot remember now.
Stefanie wants me in her presence as much as possible. She will often reach out to me as we lie in bed, just to make sure that I am there.
Once, as we were watching TV, I got up to go to the bathroom. When I had taken only a few steps, she called out, "Where are you going?" "To the bathrrom," I replied. "When are you going to be back?" she wanted to know. "Soon," I said.
Once, the family across the street had a new baby arrive. The father was the only one employed and they had six children, not including the new baby. I thought it would be good to help them by providing an evening meal when the mom came home from the hospital. So, I went to a deli and bought a meatloaf ready to put in the oven. When Steffie came home, she smelled the meatloaf in the oven. I told her what I was doing. She asked what else I was providing besides the meatloaf. "Nothing else," I replied. "Oh no! You must buy a platter of vegetables, some potatoes, and some bread rolls. " I dutifully went to the market a second time and procured these things. When the meatloaf was done, it smelled great, but it was caved in a little so that its top was curved downwards rather than upwards. But, I gathered all of these things and delivered them to a grateful father just home from work.
Later, the father told me that the meal was so large that they invited guests. And, the one request the mom had was to get our recipe for the meat loaf.
