Camping at the cross of Jesus Christ means to anchor your mind, heart, and will at a place of humility before the memory of what Christ has accomplished for you. Camping at the cross does not mean thinking of the cross consciously at all times because real life interposes circumstances that require attention. We have spouses, parents, children, friends, teachers, bosses, customers and so on. We also have bills, phone calls, etc. But, we can always have in the back of our thoughts and feelings, the peace and victory we find at Calvary.
The secret of true joy in Christ is the realization that after we truly repented of our sins, Jesus Christ forgave us of everything. He was justified in doing that because of His sacrifice for us by dying on that horrible cross. And, His blood continues to cleanse us every day as we return His love for us by cooperating with His Word in the Bible.
This information is both old and new for the true believer in Christ. It is old news and new blessing for today to rejoice in Christ. It is our new identity validated again today as we remember the cross. The cross relieves us of earthly sorrows, eases our tensions, helps compensate for our losses. It is the victory over recurring sins that beset us. It is the trust in the overcoming power of the Holy Spirit within us. The cross is the altar of our confession and release from sin. It is the sight of God's love for us.
The cross of Calvary is more than we can tell. It is the source of faith in the Savior who then arose from the dead to sit in heaven and represent us there. The cross is why the true believers' names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life before the throne of God the Father.
The same cross that makes the Christ follower an outcast in the world system is the cross that endears him or her as the beloved in Heaven.
Camping at the cross. What a great idea!!!
